From new client meetings, venue launches and everything in between, it is safe to safe my first two weeks with GAT have been a whirlwind. I come from a marketing and communications management role filled with corporate structure, red tape and board meetings.
Although I loved my clients and the brand I worked for, when the opportunity to work at Adelaide’s leading lifestyle and fashion PR firm came up, it was an easy decision to hang up the corporate grey suit and step into the glamorous world of public relations.
My first day at GAT HQ started with a team meeting with Maree and the girls. It is always nerve wracking starting a new job and not knowing anything about the team dynamics but the GAT girls instantly made me feel at ease. By 10am I knew I was going to love my new role as Senior Publicist Aka Queen of Content. Learning about GAT’s versatile clients and seeing the passion for the industry the whole team has is truly inspiring.
Going into it, I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect. Now I know that no two days will ever be the same – if we aren’t creating social media strategy or pitching stories for our wonderful clients we are busy planning events, styling photo shoots, writing proposals, networking and so much more!
Last Friday night we opened Drunken Sailor – the new (and not your average) fish and chip shop on O’Connell Street at North Adelaide. We welcomed over 30 media and bloggers to the brand new venue and filled their stomachs with fish, chips and champagne! It was the first day of service for the restaurant and the team did a fabulous job, leaving everybody very impressed with the ambience and the menu. With crab cakes to die for, it is safe to say I will be a frequent Drunken Sailor visitor!
Loads of exciting things are in the pipeline at GAT. I am currently working with The Rose Garden Melbourne Cup 2017 event, Lady Burra Brewhouse and the launch of their new deck area, HQ media launch, The Mercedes-Benz Unley Long Lunch and some other super secret events and venues!
If you think your social media or marketing strategy could use a touch of GAT magic, I am only one call away.
Until next time… Jess x
