Fashion, Hens and Birthdays…

Last week was epic on both the work and social front…

It all began Friday with an invitation to the ‘Fashion Insiders Breakfast’ as part of the 2016 Adelaide Fashion Festival, curtesy of the lovely Kelly Noble of Glam Adelaide. I was really looking forward to this event as it wasn’t just your usual fashion event. Instead, guests were treated to an exclusive insight in to the world fashion with the best in the business. Focusing on inspiration, branding, design and trends, we heard from Co-Founder of The Daily Edited Alyce Tran, C/MEO COLLECTIVE Head Designer Siham Elmawey, Tania Debono of The Writing, Adelaide Artist and Designer Tiff Manuell and Rebecca Evans from the Art Gallery of South Australia – women whose experience spans the fashion and art spheres. All highly successful in their own right, they all spoke from personal experiences about what goes into creating a business, how to sustain it and how to stand out. I could most definitely relate having started Girl About Town over two and a half years ago, and picked up some excellent tips that I will be sure to implement.

Next on the agenda was ‘Variety on King William’ – a beautiful fashion show held on King William Road showcasing the latest Spring/Summer ready to wear trends, with a focus on race-wear and party dressing from King William Road retailers. This was also accompanied by a three-course menu that had a Chinese influence, oozing spring flavours prepared by some of King William Road’s best restaurants and food suppliers. With an oriental theme, and once the sun eventually came out, it was a lovely way to spend TGIF with my GAT girls. Our client, Cotto Espresso, was the coffee sponsor of the event and we shared a table with them which was so nice to sit back and relax.

My day was topped off with an amazing dinner at Estia in Henley Square to celebrate one of my best friend’s birthdays, Dani, leaving me with a massive food coma.

Saturday started bright and early with having my makeup done by the fabulous @makeupbytara.adelaide, followed by fresh new hair thanks to Andreanna from Alkazar Salonnieres (I ditched the highlights and went to back to my roots with a block colour brunette shade), and then off to my good friend, Bobby’s, Hens Day. We started with a DIY flower crown workshop, which was oh so cute. It’s a lot harder than it looks but luckily my flower crown turned out semi wearable… Then we made our way to Beach Road Wines for wood oven pizza and classic hens day games. It was such a nice day and suited to bride to be to an absolute tee!

And to finish off my crazy weekend was another best friend’s 30th birthday, Melly. She hired the top room of Melt on Waymouth Street and we devoured endless tapas, pizza and wine, followed by a shimmy and some shots at Electra House. This girl does not look a day over 21, plus she has an eighteen month old, she seriously kills me! I hired my Kookai dress from Style Hutt in Brighton and actually don’t want to give it back… I love it!

Sunday was simply sleep, eat, watch movies, repeat.

Until next time… x
